Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for a Project Manager in our Charlotte or Atlanta offices to manage transmission line design projects ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV. An entrepreneurial spirit and strong leadership abilities are a must. Responsibilities Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations. Serve as project point of contact with the client regarding coordination, strategic planning, scope management, and budgeting. Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid-phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout. Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control costs. Assist with internal project financials (detailed, accurate project cost forecasts and accruals), staffing, risk management, change management, and human resource issues. Serve as primary point of contact with clients regarding client coordination, master scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, project staffing, environmental compliance, facility support, and schedule attainment. Manage all aspects of project communication. Develop and implement project policies and procedures, establish project controls systems and implement the project execution plan. Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services meet client expectations and that projects follow internal QA/QC guidelines. Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and issues requiring office support.
The Project Manager will also be responsible for managing overall engineering design efforts for design-only projects, which encompass engineering design work for traditional design-bid-build projects. Manage overall engineering design efforts for design-only projects. Prepare and manage final engineering man-hour budgets. Manage implementation of the Quality Program for engineering designs. Manage independent quality and completeness reviews of engineering deliverables. Direct and manage field engineering services. Manage engineering design schedule, budget and progress measurement with project controls teams. Manage, prepare and submit client change orders. Lead engineering preparation of subcontract plans and subcontractor bid and award packages. Manage turnover and start-up plans. Prepare monthly client status reports and manage meetings and status reviews. Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management or related field from an accredited curriculum. Minimum of seven years of utility transmission line project experience with at least 3 years of project management experience. Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel. Valid drivers license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Companys Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
