UW Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst to join their team.
UW Medicine's mission is to improve the health of the public by advancing medical knowledge, providing outstanding primary and specialty care to the people of the region, and preparing tomorrow's physicians, scientists and other health professionals. UW Medicine owns or operates Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center, UW Medicine Primary Care, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine (SoM), Airlift Northwest, and includes other owned, operated or affiliated entities as appropriate. Part of UW Medicine family of organizations, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization that serves as UW Medicine’s cancer program. In addition, UW Medicine also shares in the ownership and governance of Children's University Medical Group.
The Senior Business Analyst (payroll title: Program Operations Analyst) will play a lead role in the clinical departmental funding process, lead the analytical work within the UW Medicine Faculty Business Planning Office, as well as perform high-level financial analyses for various other UW Medicine projects. This role will serve as a critical resource in supporting, managing, and driving strategic projects and initiatives across the group and UW Medicine. The position will support executive management in executing business/operational strategies.
Under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Analysis, Office of Faculty Business Planning, this position will be responsible for detailed reporting and analysis needs for the UW Medicine Clinical Departmental Funding Process. The Senior Business Analyst position has a wide range of responsibilities such as financial reporting and analysis, preparing complex analyses for special projects, and providing operational assessments. The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with the UW Medicine Faculty Business Planning Officer, UWP President, SoM clinical departments, UW Medicine staff, medical directors and executive leadership.
This position routinely accumulates, analyzes, and integrates complex information to make independent decisions for planning and project proposals within UW Medicine. This position will be required to work independently and collaborate with others in seeking information from a variety of internal UW medicine resources, and external entities for on-going assignments and special projects. The individual in this position must have demonstrated the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with multiple interruptions.

Duties And Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis – 45%
- Leads the design of, development, and management of financial tracking, and reporting systems.
- Develops and provides comprehensive, as well as targeted and specific, financial analyses and reports for decision-making.
- Develops analysis to support clinical departmental funding model changes.
- Leads development and maintenance of clinical activity dashboards in Tableau.
- Oversees quality assurance reviews of programmatic reviews and reporting.
- Oversees the continuous improvement of processes and systems to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Perform other financial analysis and reporting as assigned to support development/implementation of key initiatives and projects.
- Responds to ad hoc data requests.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Primary lead in providing oversight of the Faculty Funding Database (HSD) and management of any programming changes.
- Primary lead during annual budgeting process and collaborates with clinical departments, UWP, and the SoM IT team during annual clinical departmental budgeting process.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting on any funding and adjustments to the departmental funding agreements.
- Responsible for reviewing departmental clinical departmental funding requests for accuracy and performing appropriate analyses of requests, as appropriate.
- Primary lead in managing Clinical Full-Time Equivalence (CFTE) reporting to internal stakeholders and CPSC (Clinical Practice Solutions Center).
- Responsible for providing data/reports related to clinical departmental funding to UW Medicine Faculty Business Planning Office, SoM, medical centers, and department contacts.
- Provides project management for development/implementation of key initiatives and group projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Expert in advanced use of Excel and other data mining tools.

- Experience with healthcare operations and patient access.
- Demonstrated experience using MS Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Able to communicate effectively across various perspectives, experiences and knowledge bases, take initiative, and is proactive in their approach.
- Working knowledge of enterprise-wide relational databases, multi-dimensional cubes, scripting languages, SQL server (including SQL Server Analysis Services), and Business Intelligence reporting tools.
- Working knowledge of Tableau and Alteryx.
- Familiarity with a variety of UW and UWP systems and policies.
- Regular staffed office hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with occasional adjustments based on business needs.
- Primarily hybrid with occasional in-person business needs at Seattle, WA UWMC-Montlake campus.
