Overview
Team Overview:
The Summer Associate will join the Controls Assurance – Asset Based Testing team, which plays a key role in evaluating and validating IT and Information Security controls across the organization. This team operates in an Agile environment and collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure strong cybersecurity practices and regulatory compliance.
The Summer Associate will support Asset Based Testing efforts, helping to plan, scope, execute, and report on assessments of IT and security controls. This role offers hands-on experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and data analysis, providing exposure to real-world challenges and professional development opportunities.
Potential Projects:
Summer Associates may work on:
Asset Based Assessments of IT and Security controls
Assurance Monitoring and Analytics
Controls Testing and Regulatory Compliance
Strategic initiatives based on cybersecurity trends and data analysis
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning and scoping Asset Based Assessments
Participate in walk-throughs with business partners to understand control environments
Help develop test strategies and document work in alignment with audit standards
Support documentation of issues and reporting of assessment results
Contribute to peer reviews and stakeholder communications
Analyze data to identify trends and support strategic recommendations
Assist in evaluating security control design and remediation efforts
Help ensure compliance with internal processes and external regulations
Perform other duties as assigned to support the program
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
Strong interest in cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance
Basic understanding of security risks, processes, and controls
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002, SANS/CIS 20, PCI DSS) is a plus
Knowledge of federal and state regulations (FFIEC, NIST, GLBA, etc.) is beneficial
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Effective planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and think critically
Experience with data tools such as Axonius, Tenable, Splunk is a plus
Comfortable working with large datasets and presenting findings
Experience in technical writing or documentation is a plus
Ability to collaborate with team members and communicate with stakeholders
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
