ANTICIPATED VACANCY 2025-2026- Certified Athletic Trainer

The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:

POSITION:Certified Athletic Trainer Full-Time - 11 Months; evenings and weekends required during sports seasons (Exempt/Salaried per Agreement)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Option A: A baccalaureate or higher degree from a New York State registered athletic training program.

• Option B: A baccalaureate or higher degree from a program accredited by CAATE/NATA/CAAHEP, recognized nationally.

• Option C: (for pre July 1, 2022 grads only) A degree in any major, with:

o ≥ 12 semester credit hours in athletic training coursework (e.g. kinesiology, exercise physiology, therapeutic modalities, injury prevention & care)

o ≥ 9 semester hours in human biological/physical sciences and social & behavioral sciences (e.g. anatomy, nutrition, psychology)

o ≥ 1,500 clock hours of clinical/work experience in athletic training, supervised by a NYS-certified or BOCcertified AT.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Injury Prevention and Risk Management

• Design and implement programs for injury prevention (e.g., warm-ups, stretching, taping).

• Educate athletes and coaching staff on injury risks, hydration, and health maintenance.

• Inspect athletic facilities and equipment for safety concerns.

Injury Assessment and Immediate Care

• Provide on-site coverage for practices, games, and tournaments.

• Assess athletic injuries and determine proper treatment or referrals.

• Administer basic emergency care (CPR, first aid, AED usage).

Treatment & Rehabilitation

• Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.

• Monitor and document student progress throughout recovery.

• Coordinate return-to-play decisions in conjunction with physicians and school policy.

Documentation and Communication

• Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and care plans.

• Communicate effectively with parents, coaches, school nurses, and physicians.

• Ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and school district medical protocols.

Compliance and Protocols

• Implement and manage concussion protocols and emergency action plans.

• Assist with pre-participation physical exams and required medical paperwork.

• Ensure student-athletes meet all health and eligibility requirements.

START DATE: ASAP

SALARY: $45,000-55,000 annual salary dependent on experience
