Job Summary : The maintenance mechanic is a line mechanic responsible for trouble shooting and
repair of facility and manufacturing equipment, to include basic electrical maintenance. The mechanic
will have to maintain high speed printing, binding, and packaging equipment, as well as various other
equipment within the facility. Strong mechanical and some electrical troubleshooting skills required.
Essential Functions :
• All facets of repair and preventive maintenance on various mechanical equipment within the facility
• Actively participate in improving overall maintenance systems by providing verbal/written feedback,
editing work plans, and modifying PM's, etc
• Demonstrate good communication skills with all coworkers
• Follow operational procedures and plans
• Maintain and demonstrate an expert knowledge of Lock out/Tag out procedures
• Perform machine repairs- includes troubleshooting mechanical/electrical/pneumatic issues
• Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic systems
• Perform some light electrical work, such as: pulling wires, replacing relays, installing outlets, etc
• Perform some minor carpentry work, such as: replacing locks, replacing ceiling tiles, painting, etc
• Perform some minor plumbing work, such as: clearing drains, replacing pipes and hoses, etc
• Assist with all types of tooling change-overs on production equipment, as needed
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
• Tool knowledge and a general understanding of automated production machinery
• Ability to read schematics a plus
• Ability to operate shop equipment - drill press, welders, torches, etc
• Excellent mechanical aptitude required
• Self directed worker with strong trouble-shooting skills
• Strong precision millwright / machinist skills
• The ability to use precision maintenance instruments and techniques
• Skilled in using machine shop equipment such as metal lathes and mills
• Ability to fabricate parts from stock; pipe fitting and sheet metal skills a plus
• Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis on chronic problems.
Education/Experience :
• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• 3+ years experience as a maintenance technician, electrician, or machinist in a manufacturing
environment preferred
• Welding experience preferred
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated industrial equipment
