Supervisory experience preferredSkills Qualifications: Ability to supervise and train personnel; advanced knowledge of and the ability to proficiently perform, demonstrate, teach, and evaluate the custodial care skills and tasks of the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Custodial Care Program and other general custodial practices; ability to relate to administrators, teachers, students, other employees and visitors of assigned schools and support facilities; ability to hear, understand, follow, and provide oral instructions given in the English language; ability to read, understand, follow, and provide written instructions in the English language at a minimum 6th grade level, such as safety instructions, use and disposal instructions on custodial product labels, GCPS Custodial Toolbox training materials, and other forms, documents, or notes provided by the supervisor; and ability to organize and lead staff to work effectively together as a team.Primary Responsibilities: Assist the Head Custodian ? Facilities and Operations in supervising and coordinating activities of the department's custodial staff to follow the GCPS Custodial Care Program and maintain support facilities at multiple locations, in a safe, clean, sanitary, and orderly condition.1. Assist in supervising custodians to perform tasks of the GCPS Custodial Care Program and other general custodial practices to maintain a safe, clean, sanitary, and orderly learning and working environment at facilities in multiple locations.2. Assist in developing and implementing detailed work schedules and assignments for all custodians, and perform custodial work as required, to ensure support facilities in multiple locations are thoroughly and consistently cleaned and sanitized to the standards of the GCPS Custodial Care Program.3. Ensure appropriate chemicals, supplies, and equipment, which have been approved for use according to GCPS Custodial Care Program, are utilized by assigned staff to perform all custodial tasks.4. Arrange for the opening and securing of assigned facilities and grounds areas in multiple locations at the time(s) instructed by the Head Custodian ? Facilities and Operations or other designated division leaders.5. Manage custodial care expenditures for chemicals, supplies, tools, equipment, and supplemental labor within respective custodial budgets in the absence of the Head Custodian ? Facilities and Operations.6. Assist the Head Custodian ? Facilities and Operations with on-site support of the general care and maintenance of assigned facilities in multiple locations, and related contents and grounds.7. Perform room and facility setups, moves, and relocation of facility furniture and equipment when required.8. Suggest alternate cleaning practices, products, tools, or equipment for the GCPS Custodial Care Program and assist the Environmental, Print and Supply Services Department in related evaluations to identify those that are more efficient or effective.9. Operate GCPS vehicles safely in accordance with local, state and national laws, and complete associated tasks such as fueling and checking fluids.10. Perform other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear, stand, walk, negotiate stairs, reach with hands and arms, manipulate tools and small items with hands and lift and transport up to 70 pounds over short distances. The employee is frequently required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions will working with equipment. Potential hazards of this position include working with electrical and battery powered equipment and working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment with rotating parts using chemicals and solvents. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with specific disabilities to perform the essential functions.
