Position Description
Primary purpose:
Daily supervision of all volume analyst activities for Kinder Morgan pipelines
Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of measurement information to internal and external customers
Work with manager to identify training needs and growth opportunities for volume analyst teams
Represent the volume analyst measurement team across other departments within the organization
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Oversee daily and monthly volume analyzing activities
Monitor measurement system work queues and data issues to ensure prompt reconciliation
Coordinate work schedules for volume analyst team
Assist manager in ensuring employees are taking corporate mandated training
Assist manager in ensuring employees are adhering to all company policy and procedures
Ensure adequate backup coverage during employee absences
Assign work tasks/responsibilities to volume analyst team
Conduct periodic staff meetings with volume analyst team
Supervise monthly measurement close process including closing activities and documentation
Willingness and ability to take on meters for daily processing if or when necessary
Provide training for existing and new volume processing personnel
Provide support for measurement data requests both internal and external
Assist in reconciliation of L&U issues for the pipelines
Research measurement data issues and/or measurement system and work with support teams to resolve
Provide support for volume adjustments
Review and approve prior period adjustments per department guidelines
Work with manager to resolve 3rd party data issues
Lead and/or support efforts to resolve customer issues or discrepancies
Assist in the development and testing of measurement system enhances/changes
Assist with department training initiatives
Work with manager to create and update volume analyst procedures
Work with manager and volume analyst team to identify and drive process improvements
Work with manager to complete employee performance review, set employee goals
Continually work with volume analysts to monitor their progression and development
Work with manager to document and communicate employee performance issues
Work with manager to set annual goals - personal and team
Available to provide backup for manager during absences
Assist Manager with various internal/external business meetings, business initiatives, etc.
Develop proficiency in utilizing the SCADA interface to identify and analyze measurement discrepancies.
Utilize advanced analytics tools—such as Power BI, Meter Spatialization, and LLM—to support investigations into measurement discrepancies and enhance data-driven decision-making
Collaborate with Measurement Department supervisors to plan, facilitate, and deliver content for the annual All Analyst Training Seminar
Partner with the Measurement Manager to participate in and present during the annual Loss & Unaccounted (L&U) rollout meetings.
This position has the opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule with Monday through Wednesday in the office and Thursday and Friday at home.
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements: Education:
Bachelor Degree strongly preferred
Equivalent industry experience will be considered
Experience / specific knowledge:
5 to 7 years in natural gas/liquid pipeline industry or related industry, preferably in area of gas and liquid measurement
Previous supervisory experience or experience as team lead within work group
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers for business travel
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel and Microsoft word skills required
Intermediate to advanced written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with an ability to analyze and present data within required deadlines
Ability to work in a team environment and interact with support groups, subordinates,supervisor, and co-workers
Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, adhere to work schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules
May be required to work outside outside of normal business hours with limited notice
Travel up to 20%
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
Direct experience with transmission and midstream gas and liquid measurement for at least 5 years
Experience with natural gas volume analyst and monthly close process
Working knowledge of measurement transactional systems
Working knowledge of fundamentals of gas measurement
Experience with Microsoft Access or SQL query writing tools.
