IT ServiceNow Subject Matter Expert
Location- Suitland, MD
Clearance- Public Trust
Pay Rate- $50-$60/hr
IT ServiceNow Subject Matter Expert to lead platform strategy, configuration, and optimization efforts for the Department of Commerce. This role demands deep expertise in ServiceNow architecture and federal ITSM practices, with a focus on driving automation, compliance, and operational excellence across enterprise workflows.
Responsibilities
Serve as the lead technical authority for ServiceNow platform design, implementation, and enhancement
Architect and configure modules including ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD, and custom applications
Align platform capabilities with federal standards and agency-specific requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP)
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define workflows, and deliver scalable solutions
Develop and maintain system documentation, data models, and configuration standards
Lead integration efforts with external systems (e.g., Active Directory, cloud platforms, monitoring tools)
Provide guidance on platform governance, performance tuning, and release management
Mentor junior developers and support knowledge transfer across technical teams
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in ServiceNow development and architecture
Proven track record supporting federal clients or large enterprise environments
Expertise in scripting (JavaScript, Glide), workflows, and ServiceNow APIs
Strong understanding of ITIL processes and federal compliance frameworks
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Skills
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Certified Application Developer
Experience with Agile delivery and DevOps practices
Familiarity with cloud-native integrations (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Knowledge of CMDB design, discovery tools, and data normalization strategies
This program requires US Citizenship
Position Details:
Pay Rate / Range:
$50-$60/hr
The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position's responsibilities; the candidate's experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions.
