Data Center Administrator II - Expedia Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Data Center Administrator to manage and maintain our mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in server hardware, networking, and systems administration, with a proactive approach to monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing data center operations. This role requires a commitment to uptime, security, and efficiency, as well as the ability to collaborate across technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
In This Role, You Will
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, storage, network equipment, and facility infrastructure (e.g., power, cooling, HVAC, UPS, PDUs).
- Install, rack, cable, and decommission hardware including servers, network devices, and related infrastructure.
- Perform diagnostics, hardware repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure uptime and performance.
- Maintain accurate inventory, documentation, and CMDB records of data center assets.
- Coordinate with IT, network, and security teams to support operational needs and ensure compliance with internal policies and external standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Manage incidents and tickets, perform routine checks, and provide timely updates.
- Support live troubleshooting at the OS level and manage small projects related to server and infrastructure changes.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with vendors for equipment repairs, replacements, and warranty claims.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and process manuals.
Experience And Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certifications (e.g., MCP, A+, Network+) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure support.
- Proficiency in hardware repair, server/network installation, and troubleshooting across LAN/WAN, IP addressing, AD/LDAP, SAN, SQL, and HA environments.
- Familiarity with Windows Server or Linux administration, remote KVMs, DCIM tools, and ticketing systems.
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge for automation tasks.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and working in a hands-on, active environment.
