Overview
Director, Solutions Architect Data Center Power Management at Qcells North America. This role leads the development and deployment of power and energy management systems across the global data center footprint, with deep expertise in critical infrastructure, power quality, and hybrid edge-cloud system architectures.
Responsibilities
- Lead Power and Critical Infrastructure Systems
- Oversee planning, design, and operational governance of data center power systems including UPS, switchgear, PDUs, batteries, and on-site generation assets
- Drive high-availability designs in compliance with Tier III/IV and Uptime Institute standards
- Implement strategies that enhance system reliability, fault tolerance, and redundancy
- Architect Hybrid EdgeCloud Energy Management
- Design and deploy hybrid edge-cloud systems with real-time edge control and scalable cloud analytics (Azure or similar)
- Ensure workload distribution supports low-latency local control while maintaining cloud-based optimization and observability
- Support edge autonomy during network interruptions with robust synchronization
- Enable Full-Stack Observability
- Standardize OpenTelemetry integration for logs, metrics, and traces from edge devices to cloud
- Deliver real-time visibility into OT and IT environments to improve uptime and performance monitoring
- Establish Device Lifecycle and Configuration Management
- Develop scalable onboarding, qualification, and management processes for energy devices and telemetry infrastructure
- Oversee automated configuration systems with secure versioning, rollback, and provisioning controls
- Define and Govern Data Modeling Standards
- Lead semantic data models and standards (e.g., CIM, IEC 61850, Brick Schema) for interoperability and data analysis
- Align data standards across local controllers, SCADA/BMS, and cloud services
- Secure OT/IT Integration
- Manage SCADA, EMS, BMS integrations with enterprise and cloud platforms while enforcing zero-trust cybersecurity
- Oversee secure communication protocols and real-time threat detection
- Collaborate and Drive Innovation
- Partner with stakeholders and vendors to guide AI/ML-based energy optimization, grid-interactive systems, and predictive maintenance
- Contribute to long-term investment strategy and roadmap for edge and cloud energy infrastructure
Education and Qualifications
- A bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related technical field required; masters degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in power systems, energy infrastructure, or data center operations, with at least 5 years in leadership or systems architecture
- Strong background in designing and managing mission-critical electrical systems (UPS, switchgear, PDUs, on-site generation) with Tier III/IV reliability and redundancy
- Proven experience developing and deploying hybrid edge-cloud systems for energy monitoring and control, preferably with Azure or similar cloud platforms
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry or similar observability frameworks for full-stack OT/IT visibility
- Knowledge of semantic data models (CIM, IEC 61850, Brick Schema) and scalable device configuration/versioning/provisioning tools
- Strong understanding of zero-trust architecture and secure OT/IT integration
