A leading commercial manufacturing facility in the greater Charlotte, NC area is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to oversee and ensure compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations. This is a full-time, onsite role supporting a site that handles exothermic reactions and reactive raw materials. The PSM Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager and play a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant operation.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and coordinate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and revalidations, ensuring timely execution and appropriate team composition.
  • Evaluate and ensure all PHA scenarios have sufficient risk mitigation strategies and layers of protection based on risk assessments.
  • Drive resolution of action items from PHAs and PSM audits, ensuring timely and effective closure.
  • Promote and implement innovative technologies and designs that reduce chemical hazard risks and potential consequences.
  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process, including final approval of PSM-related changes.
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Process Safety Information (PSI) , including P&IDs for all PSM-covered processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to oversee Mechanical Integrity programs.
  • Develop and deliver PSM training for relevant personnel and coordinate regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Foster employee engagement in PSM programs and ensure active participation in safety initiatives.


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Safety , or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a PSM-regulated chemical facility .
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative risk analysis methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process hazard analyses and implementing safety improvements.
