Responsible for managing and coordinating the international movement of goods by air and ocean. This role involves preparing and processing documentation, ensuring compliance with customs and trade regulations, monitoring shipments, and maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, and overseas agents. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Documentation & Compliance
- Receive, review, and process import/export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, export declarations, certificates of origin, SLIs, Letters of Credit, etc.).
- Ensure accurate and timely release of documents to carriers, customers, agents, and government authorities.
- Maintain compliance with all U.S. and international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
- Stay current on carrier tariffs, contracts, export licenses, and regulatory requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate shipments with airlines, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, and CFS providers.
- Track and trace shipments; provide proactive updates to clients and sales teams.
- Support warehouse and operations staff to ensure seamless cargo handling and timely deliveries.
- Communicate closely with customers, overseas agents, and carriers regarding shipment status, documentation, and requirements.
- Verify carrier and vendor invoices for accuracy prior to payment.
- Maintain shipment files and ensure timely billing in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in freight forwarding, with strong knowledge of air and/or ocean import/export procedures.
- Experience with carrier contracts, tariffs, and government regulations (export licenses, Carnet procedures) preferred.
- HazMat certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).

- High level of professionalism and customer service orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); CargoWise or logistics software experience preferred.
- Strong mathematical skills for cost/rate calculations.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages a plus.
