Robert Half is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Specialist / Buyer with a strong background in the automotive industry to support a high-growth manufacturing plant. This is a hands-on role focused on transactional purchasing today, ensuring timely orders, monitoring inventory, and managing supplier relationships, with a clear path toward a future procurement management role as the plant continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor SAP for material levels, communicate with supervisors, and place timely orders to ensure uninterrupted production
- Research, address, and resolve invoice and receipt discrepancies by collaborating with warehouse staff, accounts payable, and suppliers
- Maintain vendor and parts master data, including pricing and purchasing records in SAP
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain optimal pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules
- Expedite urgent orders and proactively follow up on late deliveries
- Participate in supplier selection and assessments, providing recommendations to management
- Evaluate competitiveness of cost of goods and recommend improvements
- Maintain monthly KPI reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing / buying experience in the automotive industry (required)
- Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, policies, and vendor management
- Prior experience using SAP (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to thrive in an environment where processes are evolving and leadership expects initiative
