About the Role

Macdonald & Company has been exclusively retained by a privately held real estate investment firm to identify a strategic and execution-focused Head of Capital Markets in Beverly Hills.


Position Summary

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Capital Markets will lead all equity and debt capital formation efforts, playing a central role in shaping and executing the firm’s growth strategy. This executive will be responsible for sourcing, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and other capital partners. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, balancing investor relations, business development, and capital raising to position the firm for long-term scalability.


The Head of Capital Markets will serve on the Senior Leadership Team, chair the Capital Committee, and play a pivotal role in setting strategic direction, ensuring that the firm continues to build upon its reputation as a trusted fiduciary and market leader. The position is structured with a clear partner track and long-term leadership opportunity.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Capital Markets & Investor Relations:

  • Establish and execute equity and debt capital-raising strategies across multiple investor channels (institutional, family office, RIA, HNW).
  • Maintain and expand the firm’s investor base through consistent relationship-building, events, presentations, and targeted outreach.
  • Lead the creation of marketing materials, presentations, and investor communications that articulate the investment platform and track record.
  • Manage ongoing investor relations, ensuring timely responses, updates, and long-term relationship development.

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Partner with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on company vision, investment strategy, and capital planning.
  • Develop and oversee business development initiatives to drive new capital sources and expand market presence.
  • Chair the Capital Committee and contribute to firmwide strategy as a key member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Collaborate with acquisitions and development teams to align capital formation with investment opportunities.

Culture & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop team members supporting capital markets and investor relations.
  • Uphold and promote the entrepreneurial and collaborative culture.
  • Support succession planning by building and retaining top-tier capital markets talent.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of real estate capital markets experience, with a proven track record of raising both equity and debt across multiple investor types.
  • Established and active relationships with HNW, RIAs, family offices, institutional investors, and other funding sources.
  • Strong understanding of real estate underwriting, investment structures, and capital market trends. Ability to assess market opportunities, manage risk, and effectively present complex strategies to investors.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with business development orientation and strategic vision.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with prior experience leading teams and mentoring staff.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong financial and analytical abilities, including advanced proficiency in Excel and presentation software.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, finance, or real estate preferred.
