Savannah State University established in 1890, is the first public historically black college or university in the state of Georgia and the first institution of higher learning in the city of Savannah. The university's students select majors from five colleges: Business Administration Education Engineering and Computing Media, Arts, and Communication Science and Humanities The campus is described as picturesque with a vibrant residential community and active for students and faculty. Job Summary

The Associate Dean plans, organizes, and directs COBA operations related to the undergraduate, graduate, and BBA online programs as well as student-related issues. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and is a member of the COBA Leadership Team. This position assists the Dean in college operations, coordinates undergraduate curriculum activities, academic advisement, and works with Program Coordinators on instructional strategies. The Associate Dean conducts faculty annual performance reviews and submits them to the Dean. Preferred starting date: January 1, 2026 Note

Coordinate the process to implement or revise curricula and coordinate appropriate course schedules with the Program Coordinators. Serve as a resource and referral source for student related issues. Participate in the development and implementation of college policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assist the Dean in developing and supporting initiatives that impact programmatic growth and branding. Oversee the academic program and ensure quality student support services with the Dean and Program Coordinators. Identify equipment and resources needed to support classroom and lab operations. Assist the Dean in supporting the university mission and participate in college and university activities as needed. Serve as signatory for student and faculty paperwork when the Dean is unavailable. Assist with supervision of the administrative staff of the College, including selection, evaluation, promotion, and discipline. Support the Dean in supervising faculty, staff, and students and in maintaining professional standards. Collaborate with the Dean to enhance faculty development. Assist departments in coordination of academic advisement, course offerings, academic assessment, and program accreditation. Serve as liaison to other university units to promote college initiatives. Assist the Dean in preparing reports describing or supporting College work. Assist with budget management and represent the College at events when the Dean is unavailable. Coordinate and implement college-wide training for faculty (including part-time) and staff. Required Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in one of the COBA disciplines from an AACSB-accredited institution Current faculty rank of associate professor or higher Minimum five years of leadership experience as a Department Chair, Program Coordinator, or equivalent Five years of teaching experience in higher education with a record of academic accomplishments Experience in development, implementation, and execution of academic programs Experience supervising personnel and training Proposed Salary: The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Knowledge of university policies, procedures, governance, academic program development, faculty promotion/tenure processes, and student matters Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment best practices Skilled in mediating conflicts and fostering a collaborative environment Skilled in budget management and resource allocation across departments Effective communication (interpersonal, oral, written) with all audiences Ability to work as part of a team and with all students, faculty, and staff to support student success Ability to remain professional and maintain confidentiality Apply Before Date
