ABOUT LUCID DREAM Lucid Dream is a custom game and interactive experience studio. We help leaders in medical, scientific, and technical industries use emerging technology to transform the way they engage, train, and explain complex science to providers and patients. Located in the heart of downtown Durham, NC, our office at the historic American Tobacco Campus is a short walk from world-class dining and entertainment venues including the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC). ABOUT THE ROLELucid Dream is seeking a hands-on VR Event Manager to organize and conduct virtual reality demos at conferences, training sessions, sales meetings, and small group demonstrations around the country (and occasionally in Europe) . Youll be on the front lines of our activations, deploying cutting-edge technology with health care professionals and life science teams while ensuring every event and meeting runs smoothly from setup to teardown. No matter the size, every event is about connecting with people, making them feel comfortable with the technology, and ensuring they leave with a lasting, positive impression. When youre not traveling, youll be helping create, maintain and improve QA systems, refining processes, and collaborating with our team to deliver the most impactful VR experiences possible. Please note: This is a hybrid position based in Durham, NC, with three days of in-office work per week and two days work-from-home during non-travel periods. The role requires frequent travel ( 50-75%), peaking during spring and fall conference seasons. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Event Deployment & Technical Support Travel to conferences and client events to set up, operate, and administer VR (virtual reality) experiences. Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide excellent onsite customer support. Represent the company professionally and confidently in high-pressure, fast paced, client-facing environments. Assist attendees and clients with device use and experience navigation. Manage teardown and secure demo equipment post-event.

Systems, Logistics & Process Management Maintain, test, and QA demo hardware and client-specific builds to ensure readiness. Pack, ship, and track demo kits and coordinate with vendors and event organizers. Maintain SOPs, checklists, and deployment documentation. Coordinate travel and onsite logistics including power, Wi-Fi, and booth setup requirements.

Internal Support & Client Success Onboard and train partner teams on demo operation and troubleshooting. Provide feedback to client and creative teams based on field experience. Lead QA testing by identifying and logging bugs. Collaborate with designers and developers to define and implement UX improvements. Support clients with occasional technical troubleshooting outside of events.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED: Comfort with frequent travel, including single-day small group meetings, multi-day conferences, or back-to-back / multi-destination events Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in high-stakes, client-facing environments Passion for VR and a desire to work hands-on with VR in a real-world setting Attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset - you notice when things are off Proactive, self-directed, and excited to work in a creative, collaborative studio environment Experience in event production, experiential marketing, AV setup, or immersive tech deployment

NICE TO HAVE:

Experience with Unity Familiarity with VR hardware such as Meta Quest or Apple Vision Pro Experience in life science, healthcare, or pharmaceutical sectors Exposure to QA, user testing, or experience design processes
