The Front-End Warehouse Associate I (Forklift Operator) is responsible for receiving, processing, storing, and moving cargo within the front-end warehouse area. Approximately half of this role involves forklift operations, including unloading, staging, and transporting cargo safely and efficiently. This position also performs general warehouse duties such as inventory handling and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate forklift equipment (up to 12k capacity) to load, unload, and move cargo within the receiving warehouse area. Receive and direct truck drivers and deliveries, ensuring correct documentation (BOL, Packing List, Invoice, Delivery Ticket, etc.). Verify packing slips, notate discrepancies, and distribute materials to proper areas. Convey materials from receiving to storage, staging, or other designated areas. Weigh, measure, and verify freight quantities, part numbers, and packaging accuracy. Mark and label freight as required by customer or regulatory standards. Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with cycle counts when required. Prepare outbound parcels and shipments according to customer and regulatory requirements. Perform accurate quality control checks on incoming and outgoing materials. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; follow FIFO or customer-specific sequencing. Handle tools, freight, and equipment safely, following OSHA, TSA, and company standards. Participate in safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives (Kaizen/continuous improvement). Support Guard Shack operations as needed, including verifying driver IDs, confirming documentation, and ensuring compliance with facility entry/exit procedures. Perform other warehouse duties as assigned Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 1-2 years of warehouse experience with forklift operation (12k capacity required), preferably in industrial packaging, crating, cargo services, or logistics support. Experience with basic hand tools, tape measure, and load securement. Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and TSA compliance preferred. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; knowledge of warehouse software (C2C) preferred. Must be customer service oriented, detail-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Classification Certification (Hazardous Materials) required within 90 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and effective time management. Solid understanding of warehouse logistics, including shipping/receiving processes and forklift operations (12k capacity). Awareness of facility security protocols and visitor/vendor access procedures. Quality-focused mindset, supporting safety, customer satisfaction, and operational consistency. Active involvement in continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives. Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Interest in leadership development and training opportunities Work Environment and Safety Expectations
Follow all written work instructions and adhere to company safety protocols at all times. Operate forklifts, tools, and materials in compliance with OSHA, TSA, and company safety standards. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated by task and environment. Promptly escalate any safety or quality concerns to management or QHSE. Safely navigate the warehouse and maintain awareness of moving equipment and cargo. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Must be able to work in an outdoor warehouse environment and be exposed to changing weather conditions (hot, cold, dusty). Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift. Ability to stand and remain on feet for extended periods, including bending, kneeling, and maneuvering freight. Manual dexterity to handle tools and warehouse equipment. Ability to safely operate a forklift and other warehouse machinery. Clear oral communication skills; able to hear instructions in person or via phone/radio. Basic computer skills to support inventory, documentation, and shipping/receiving tasks. Work Schedule
Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional Saturdays, overtime, or adjusted hours as needed to meet operational demands.
