Manufacturing Engineering Manager role at Eaton. This position is based at the Jackson, MI facility in the Aerospace Division. The expected annual salary range for this role is $93,750.03 - $137,500.04 per year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What Youll Do
This role is responsible for the strategic operational management of the MEs of an assigned Value Stream in the Jackson Plant. Responsible for support of over $119M in annual sales. Lead, mentor and supervise Manufacturing Engineers within HPWTs including utilizing TalentHub and the Development Plan process. Lead daily tactical activities (e.g., DMRs, Scrap Analysis / Review, MCOs, MOCs, etc.) as well as strategic initiatives across the ME function for the plant (e.g., PFMEA, TPM, Tool Management, Product Transitions / Robust process Creation / CI Initiatives). Manage individual project(s) including procuring new equipment, equipment upgrades, process improvements as well as deep dive corrective actions utilizing 8D tools. Essential Responsibilities Design, develop, implement, and improve safe and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes utilizing MESH (Eaton Environmental, Safety and Health process) and other Eaton and industry standard practices. Utilize processes to ensure that components and assemblies meet all internal and external customer quality specifications (Eaton Quality System, AS9100, and NADCAP). Implement processes that are efficient in terms of capital intensity and human resources by applying Eaton Lean Six Sigma tools. Coordinate, direct and prioritize Manufacturing Engineering activities to ensure top priorities align with quality, cost, and delivery objectives. Lead Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities within the focus factory including CapEx, Factory Cost Out and maintaining compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. Design equipment, gauging, and tooling using CATIA solid modeling software and other engineering tools. Work with suppliers and purchasing to procure equipment, tooling, and supplies. Specific equipment requirements include manual assembly, semi-automatic equipment and pressure testing. Implement robust machine sign-off criteria to meet Eaton and customer needs. Mentor others in Manufacturing Engineering competencies, processes, and lean concepts. Troubleshoot and improve processes including assembly and testing of products produced. Troubleshoot, recommend and implement changes in products and processes to improve manufacturability and profitability (cost out). Collaborate with production associates across the plant to implement projects and foster an inclusive culture and processes. Collect and analyze manufacturing data and metrics to aid in design and improvement of processes. Manage activities and budgets for manufacturing and process improvement projects, including developing project management requirements and implementation documentation. Provide functional and technical support to the organization as required to support goals. Proficient with tools for Measurement System Analysis, Capability Analysis, SPC and FMEA. Provide support to launch projects through ProLaunch team as required to achieve a flawless launch. Provide support to Transition projects as required to achieve a flawless transition.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Knowledge of process design, including equipment and tooling with demonstrated results. Mechanical and control knowledge for equipment troubleshooting and recommendation of improvements to product and process. Minimum three (3) years experience in a manufacturing quality environment. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that reside within 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to ITAR. All applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by ITAR.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of managing/leading people. Knowledge of process design, including equipment and tooling with demonstrated results. Mechanical and control knowledge for equipment troubleshooting and recommendation of improvements to product and process. Strong project and time management, organizational, and analytical skills. Proficient with AIAG or equivalent tools for Measurement System Analysis, Capability Analysis, SPC and FMEA. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Experience with NADCAP (or other industry standards) audits preferred. Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications with demonstrated results preferred.
