Job Purpose
As part of the school team, Security Guards are ambassadors for A Disciplined Life and believe passionately in the potential of our students. Under direct supervision, the Campus Security Guard will assist in the control and direction of traffic; maintain safe conditions on campus for employees and scholars; patrol and guard campus property while performing other related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain radio communication with law enforcement agencies as directed Provide a uniformed presence for the safety of students, employees and visitors Raise and lower flag daily; expedite traffic and traffic flow on campus Monitor and report parking violations that affect school flow Patrol and provide security for campus buildings and grounds and guard against crime, including theft and vandalism Investigate complaints and incidents according to established procedures Provide security escort services as requested Perform crowd control duties as necessary Receive and maintain certification in standard security practices, including de-escalation and CPI techniques Check doors and windows for security; lock doors and turn out lights at end of workday Watch for and report fire hazards and unsafe conditions to proper authorities Immediately report fires and accidents to proper authorities May train and supervise students in security surveillance Assist police and other emergency responders as necessary Report unusual or suspicious occurrences Prepare incident reports, log calls received and complete other record keeping as required Respond to dispatcher and other requests for service Perform other related duties as assigned Basic Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent required At least 1 -2 years of Campus Security experience strongly preferred Perseveres in challenging situations; acts with professional integrity at all times Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and demonstrates strong leadership skills Communicates directly and sensitively with colleagues, parents and students Ability to make firm decisions in the areas of responsibility Demonstrates ability to function effectively as a staff member Ability to communicate effectively Ability to read and write proficiently using the English language Ability to interact and speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of people
Physical Demands Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.Physical demands require the ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl around the classroom and kneel upwards of 60% of the day, in addition to walking up and down stairs several times a day.
