The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.Job Summary and QualificationsThe AVP of Graduate Medical Education (AVP GME) is responsible for the operations, strategic planning, leadership and management of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) development and maintenance in the Division. The AVP GME works to resolve complex issues and make business decisions for the GME enterprise in the Division.The role exists to direct the operations, maintain appropriate oversight, manage all medical education programs and ensure the securing and maintenance of accreditation in the Division.Leadership ResponsibilitiesProvides strategy, oversight and hands-on management for the GME service line and programs in a specific HCA Healthcare Division.Develops and ensures execution of business plansIs accountable for business development and operational performance/resultsAligns decisions with division and facility strategic and operational objectivesProvides leadership and directionOversees hiring, training, evaluation, promotion and disciplining of staffReceives guidance from Executive LeadersReadiness and AccreditationOngoing readiness for Institutional review by ACGMEMonitoring with all programs to secure necessary paperworkQuarterly audits of each specialty area as designated by the Division or Corporate Leadership and/or program directorsFacilitating necessary training and orientation for each facilityDevelopment of mechanisms to ensure appropriate teaching of ACGME competencies and Program DevelopmentWith support of the DVP and hospitals, the creation of new programsManaging the application process with external resourcesStaying abreast of agenda close dates and monitoring timely submission of new program applicationsManaging oversight of new and continued program accreditation and maintenance of institutional accreditationAs neededCommunicates with program directorsTracks accreditation status of programsAddresses needed program changesAddresses citationsMonitors and assists facilities as they prepare for site visitsParticipates in internal review process and assessment of annual program improvements and assist in reporting action steps to the Division or Corporate Leadership and related program directorsManagement ResponsibilitiesWill audit and run reports as needed from the residency management tool to ensure all programs are appropriately populating program informationAssist as needed to ensure that faculty agreements/contracts are being managed timely by each hospitalAssist Hospital to ensure a smooth transition for PDs, APDs, and Core Faculty into employment by HCACreates/streamlines efficient pathways for entrance into the organization by Program Administrators and facilitates any needed orientation not only to the Division but the GME service lineIdentifies revenue enhancement and cost containment initiatives and in conjunction with the hospitals prepares the operating and capital budgets for Graduate Medical Education cost centersManages fiscal and human resources for Graduate Medical EducationDetermines resources required to meet goals and objectivesReviews and approves contracts between Medical Education and internal and external partnersSupervises the daily activities of the facility or market GME staff leaders and the Residency Administrators to ensure institutional program guidelines are satisfiedRegularly interacts with facility C-Suite in support of GME staff and program requirements to ensure alignment of facility and GME goalsDevelops and manages operating and capital budgets for related programsManages all Division Accreditation Site VisitsAssist the VP of the Division with any needed activityOversee resident liaison meetings, organize and chair GMEC meetings in the absence of the DIOWorks in conjunction with GME Leadership Team to create or update Master Affiliation Agreements and Aggregate AgreementsProvide guidance with Program Letters of Agreement and or AAMC medical student agreements and the use of VSAS for medical student rotationsIdentify financial support needed to maintain residency programs according to institutional requirements set forth by the ACGMEMaintain documents relative to GMEC meetings and accreditationFacilitates the creation of a sense of community for Program AdministratorsHelps set the annual calendar for the Division and oversee Division-wide meetings and training including annual resident orientationParticipate in local, regional and national activities on behalf of HCA GMEEDUCATION:Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or universityPreferred: Master’s degree from an accredited college or universityEXPERIENCE:Minimum of 7 years of graduate medical education experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience managing and operating complex structures is preferred Physician Services Group is skilled in physician employment, practice and urgent care operations.
