The Office of Undergraduate Studies is seeking a communications-savvy, self-motivated, and outgoing student to help tell the story of Undergraduate Studies at the U. This position is perfect for a student interested in journalism, public relations, digital content, or higher ed outreach, especially someone who loves writing and isn't afraid to step in front of the camera. The Social Media Strategist will assist with social media storytelling. They'll also serve as an on-camera host for content and help represent Undergraduate Studies in outreach efforts. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Director of Communications to develop content for the Office of Undergraduate social media channels, including Instagram, TikTok, X, and BlueSky. This will include student and staff features, program highlights, and event recaps Draft blog-style articles or news pieces promoting programs across Undergraduate Studies Assist in planning and scripting short-form video content Serve as an on-camera host for student-centered content on social media Assist with event promotion through written and visual content Ensure all communication aligns with the university's tone, voice, and branding Collaborate with the Digital Media Manager and other interns on content planning and creative campaigns Attend team meetings and contribute communication ideas for storytelling and outreach Occasionally support campus outreach efforts by helping table at events, engaging with students, and distributing materials Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current U of U student. Preferences
Currently enrolled undergraduate student with at least two semesters remaining Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone, clarity, and audience Confident and professional on-camera presence Interest in communications, public relations, journalism, or digital media Comfortable speaking with students, faculty, and campus partners Reliable transportation Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing newsletters, blogs, or social captions Familiarity with email marketing platforms is a plus Basic video storytelling and hosting experience Knowledge of the University of Utah brand or willingness to learn Comfort working in a creative, collaborative environment
