Cnc Lathe (Turning Center) Operator

BandS Machine Shop has employment opportunities for CNC Lathe (Turning Center) Operators that have or want to learn programming skills. We are recruiting experienced well seasoned Machinists/Programmers as well as Machinists just starting their career. We have been in business for 40+ years and can offer stable employment for Machinists with a good work ethic. Our company offers 6 paid holidays a year, 50% participation in Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance premiums, up to 4% match 401K, and a cash profit sharing check to all eligible Machinists. The successful candidate for this job opening will be required to set up and operate a well equipped, well tooled CNC Lathe to manufacture parts such as shafts, shaft sleeves, couplings, flanges as well as other cylindrically shaped parts. Critical diameters on the parts that we make can be as tight as .0005" and non-critical dimensions as loose as .032" while maintaining print required surface finishes. Our products are machined from a wide variety of materials but the most common are 400 and 300 Series Stainless Steel and a wide variety of steels and bronzes, and occasionally plastic. Being located in the Sunny South, the temperature outside can and does get pretty hot. To combat the heat and provide a comfortable work environment we keep our facility air-conditioned to reduce fatigue and make the work day pleasant. BandS Machine provides ALL Micrometers and Precision measuring tools. We calibrate and verify these tools in house at regular intervals to insure the accuracy of our final product. Each Machinist will be required to provide all other tools such as (but not limited to) a good roll around tool box, dial/digital calipers, end wrenches, dial indicators, deburring knife, Allen wrenches (English and metric), non-marring hammer, etc. The workday starts at 7:00 AM. At 8:45 we take a scheduled break. At 9:00 it's back to work until lunch at 11:30. After a 30 minute lunch, we start the afternoon run. The "Final Bell" dings at 3:30. Normally we work 5 days a week. Overtime is always available and sometimes necessary to keep up with shipments and customer demands. Sometimes overtime is required and cooperation is expected. Applicants will be required to take a mechanical aptitude test as well as test to display machining skills.
