Land IQ
Land IQ has an opening for a Soil Scientist or Agronomist in its Sacramento, California office. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our agricultural science and environmental teams as well as our geospatial and development team comprised of remote sensing/GIS specialists, data scientists, and web-based developers. Applicants must have strong fundamentals in western cropping systems, field sampling methods, soil science, data analysis and geographic information systems (GIS). A knowledge of salinity and irrigation management is a plus. The applicant must also have excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, perform work on-time and within budget resources. A desire to perform both field and office-based tasks is imperative.

$70,000 - $100,000 depending on experience Primary Responsibilities: Work in a team environment on a wide range of projects, supporting our team of agricultural scientists, remote sensing analysts, and GIS analysts Provide QA/QC of spatial products (field boundaries, crop classifications, etc.) Communicate and document work in an organized and methodical fashion Collect, manage, and manipulate large geospatial datasets with various GPS/GIS tools Collect, analyze, and develop summary reports and figures for soil, water, and plant samples Integrate soil, water, and plant sample data into a spatial framework Install, monitor, and maintain an array of environmental monitoring equipment (soil, water and atmospheric) Provide basic geospatial analysis support and map making Resourcefully seek, prepare, and/or create spatial and non-spatial environmental data Required Qualifications: Education:
BS/MS in an Agriculture related Science, Agronomy, Crops, Soils, or related Natural Resources field (advanced degree preferred) Experience:
1 5 years (consulting or agricultural production experience preferred) Travel:
Valid drivers license and ability to travel up to 1 week, 1 3 times per quarter. Required Technical Competencies: Basic understanding of the agricultural and environmental regulatory environment in California as it pertains to the agricultural industry Understanding of western irrigation systems and agricultural water management Soil physical and chemical interactions Firm grasp of the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and Word) Experience with Esri ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro) Statistics and data science experience Preferred Qualifications/Certifications: Certified Crop Adviser (CCA), Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg), Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS), or intent to obtain any of the above Experience working with growers and agricultural interest groups in solving complex production challenges Experience utilizing programming languages Python and/or R Professional Skills: Positive/enthusiastic attitude, passionate about professional pursuits, strong organizational skills, communication and writing skills, personable, ability and desire to learn, attention to detail, strong QA/QC experience, always looking for new solutions and opportunities, enthusiastic about collaborating with, guiding, and mentoring team members to reach team and organizational goals.
