Lead Forklift Operator

The Lead Forklift Operator reports to the Warehouse Shift Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Shipping & Receiving team, as well as assisting in the daily operational needs of either team. Other responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, ensuring safe and productive operations in a 24 hour a day, seven days a week, 365 day a year operational environment, quality assurance and order verification, loading/unloading trailers, and work-load management. The Lead Forklift Operator will be on a 4-on-4-off rotation that will mirror the In-Plant operation that the warehouse is working in tandem with. Leads will head up teams of 3-5 other forklift operators working in a specific roll to either unload inbounds or load outbounds; they will assist the team in all operations outlined by the Warehouse Shift Supervisor and their manager the Warehouse Shift Supervisor. Summary of essential job functions: Provide inspired leadership for the assigned team of employees. Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale. Maintain high level of communication and rapport with the co-workers and site leadership. Assist Shift Supervisor with planning, organization, direction, and coordination with loading/shipping, raw material receipt, and all other operational activities at the warehouse. Training and Knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure optimal safety, quality, and productivity are achieved. Coordinates internally with site leadership to ensure all resourcing requirements are met (staffing, equipment, maintenance support, etc.) Monitor Quality goals for the facility with commitment to 100% wrong product shipment prevention. Helps to maintain 100% inventory accuracy through accurate put-away, picking, cycle count, and other standard operating procedures. Embraces a solution oriented, continuous improvement mindset. Ensure the employees operate and maintain material handling, and visual inspection operations within the guidelines and policy. Ensure the entire work area housekeeping stays in a presentable, safe manner. Performs any other tasks as assigned by management. Abilities required: While performing the responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Requirements: 1 year of sit-down propane forklift experience (certified forklift license preferred). 6 consecutive months of experience driving a forklift daily. Ability to lift 25 kgs (55 lbs.) for 15 minutes. General understanding of industrial equipment and warehousing operations. Must be able to pass the required background screening. Must be able to pass the required drug & alcohol screening. Must be able to work rotating days/nights shift work, 12-hour shifts, on a 4 on/4 off schedule.
