Medical Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support healthcare professionals in providing exceptional care to patients. This role involves escorting patients to exam rooms, recording vital data, preparing treatment rooms, and performing various administrative tasks. Responsibilities include: Escorting patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate. Recording patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes. Obtaining all necessary patient records required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures. Preparing and stocking exam/treatment rooms and ordering supplies as needed. Responding to patients' calls and requests. Performing administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and reception. Alerting nurse/physician of abnormal vitals and any important information provided by the patient. Collecting inbound meaningful use data. Documenting flu information and initial height and weight measurements. Printing medication list for patients and assisting with filling out disability forms. Essential Skills: Experience in oncology and patient care. Proficiency in recording vitals and medical assisting. Familiarity with electronic health records and healthcare protocols. Ability to perform triage. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Some state regulations may require specific certifications for Medical Assistants. Work Environment: The work environment is an oncology clinic where exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations is common. Employees may be required to handle and lift patients and stand or walk for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities. Job Type & Location: This is a position based out of Roanoke, Virginia. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
