Sr. Moveable Bridge Engineer

Our Structural/Bridge Group is seeking a Sr. Moveable Bridge Engineer with significant relevant experience in performing condition inspections and leading design teams. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for moveable bridge design for new and rehabilitation projects as well as analysis of existing structures to determine recommendations for rehabilitation strategies. Additionally, you will oversee and perform hands-on inspection of the bridges' mechanical equipment and systems. The successful candidate will be an experienced, licensed mechanical engineer looking to advance their career and possess the communication skills and experience to lead mechanical engineering design for rehabilitation and new movable bridge projects in New Jersey and across the US and Canada. When you join us, you'll be responsible for: Provide technical leadership and lead the movable bridge projects. Provide technical leadership and direction on movable bridge projects. Commit to quality and continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking. Perform existing bridge inspection, and condition assessment, and develop rehabilitation strategies. Prepare contract drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, technical reports, and construction cost estimates. Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans directly related to design work. Serve as a technical resource to the project team and mentor young engineers. Develop technical reports, documents, client communication and technical memoranda. Here's what you'll need: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) Substantial experience in bridge design with a focus on movable structures Substantial moveable bridge inspection experience Experience working with VDOT, CTDOT, NJDOT, AMTRAK, MDOT Understanding of mechanical systems and electrical controls Peripheral knowledge of adjacent disciplines (electrical and structural) Basic knowledge of computer assisted drafting and design Ideally, you'll also have: Railroad bridge design or inspection experience Jacobs' health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
