Technical Support Specialist

We are looking for a Technical Support Specialist to provide support for technical and administrative tasks, focusing on laptops, printers, and related equipment. This role is pivotal in maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure by configuring devices, resolving end-user issues, and managing network and system operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Laptop Support: Provide administration, configuration, and repair for laptops, including identifying and replacing hardware components. Windows Workstations: Perform Windows Systems Administration for all workstation platforms. User Accounts: Create and manage Active Directory and email accounts. Network Integration: Add new systems to the network and domain. Establish file and folder permissions. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues related to laptops and network devices. Provide first-level troubleshooting support to users. Installation & Maintenance: Install and configure user workstations with required applications. Perform software updates and patch installations. Install and troubleshoot serial and Ethernet printers (e.g., LaserJet, Zebra). Assistance & Support: Assist users with operating standard and non-standard software applications. Provide support for hand-held barcode scanners. Documentation: Maintain clear and thorough documentation for all processes and procedures. Collaboration: Work alongside the Systems Administrator to identify and resolve network and server issues. Cabling: Manage cabling projects, including the installation and maintenance of Ethernet and serial cabling. Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements: 2+ years' experience in a small-to-medium business Client/Server environment. Certifications: A+ and Network+ certifications mandatory. MCP certification is highly preferred. Education: An associate degree in an IT-related discipline or additional IT certifications are a plus. Other Skills and Abilities: Technical Knowledge: Familiar with Cisco switch configurations. Proficient with Windows 7 to Windows 11 client operating systems. Knowledge of Windows Server 20032019. Working familiarity with Microsoft Exchange Server and Active Directory. Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL. Networking: Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, wireless connectivity, and related protocols. Skilled in standard network protocols like SMTP, FTP, IMAP, SNMP, etc. Ability to configure, tip, and punch Ethernet cables. Software Tools: Competency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds and squat to handle boxes. Comfortable standing, stooping, and bending for extended periods. Capable of walking and standing on cement floors for prolonged durations. Able to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours daily. Confident using lifts for cabling projects at heights.
