CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK - TAX OFFICE Category: Full-Time Status: Open Hourly: Min $18.092- Mid $22.614 Published: September 3, 2025 Closing: Until Filled

DEFINITION To perform a variety of clerical Customer Service functions; including, responding to customer concerns, cashiering, receiving & processing payments, collection of delinquent accounts in the areas of Utility Billing and Tax Collections. Maintenance of records and financial transactions. Perform various clerical tasks related to section activities as needed.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives direct supervision from the Utility Billing Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Adheres to City attendance and punctuality policies demonstrating dependability. Adhere to department dress code policies to present a professional appearance. Should exhibit appropriate grooming and attire for the position and responsibility. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Receive and process payments for water, sewer, solid waste, tax, and other City services: via the inside counter, drive-thru kiosk, postal service, webstore and or other appropriate methods. Perform a variety of A/R functions; process receipts, cash reports, various invoices, and statements; answer questions regarding receivables for Tax and Utility Billing. Balance daily receipts to monies received and post to proper accounts. Review, organize and sort payments; identify irregularities and initiate corrective action. Respond to citizen/customer requests for information and assistance both in person and via telephone. Resolve and/or assist in the resolution of citizen complaints, disputes, or problems regarding payment for and delivery of City services. Receive and process service requests such as turn-off/turn-on, new service, repairs, transfers, name changes and commercial solid waste collection. Assist in the collection of delinquent accounts Maintain section files and records including posting information, reviewing files for accuracy and initiating appropriate action, creating new files, closing-out existing files, sorting and filing documents, preparation of files for transfer to storage and/or destruction. Perform various clerical tasks in support of section activities: including final bills, meter read collection, meter maintenance, meter service and other section activities as required. Prepare and maintain various logs and reports as needed. Crosstrain and become familiar with the primary responsibilities of other section personnel. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS For indefinite periods of time - mobility within an office; writing; typing; stooping; sorting; standing; sitting; seeing; kneeling; filing; data entry; lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds; reading; reaching above shoulder level; using both hands for simple and firm grasping; clarity of hearing; communicating clearly and effectively, in person and by telephone; fine finger manipulation; operation of a copier, binder, personal computer, calculator, and printer.

QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:

Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Basic mathematics. Basic bookkeeping procedures. Microsoft Office. Ability to:

Communicate in a clear, courteous manner with the general public and staff. Understand and implement written/oral instructions, policies and guidelines. Establish and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor and effective working relationships. Operate a computer terminal for data input, inquiry, and report preparation. Accurately count, record and balance cash transactions and other monies received. Operate calculator and other office equipment. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

One year of general clerical experience and a High School Diploma or GED. One year cash handling. One year customer service.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License
