This position is responsible for operating tasks in the testing, maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation associated with the Advanced Metering Infrastructure system, including system equipment located within high voltage substations. This position performs meter services including trouble calls, shut-offs, and special readings.
This is a benefitted, full-time position that works 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday: 7:00AM - 3:00PM). This position earns $47.49/hourly with the ability to move through the pay scale via step system to a maximum of $55.61/hourly.
The Town will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteerism, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required.
High School or electrical trade school graduate with specialized course(s) in the electrical field required. Associates degree in electrical engineering or electronics preferred. Field experience as a meter technician preferred. Bucket work experience preferred. Electric utility background desired; Electricians License or the certification to preform utility-related electrical work near high voltage through a qualified journey workers program preferred. Possession of a valid drivers license required. Massachusetts Class B CDL preferred. Must be available for stand by duty at specified times and in cases of emergency. May be called for duty at any time. Must obtain High Voltage Rubber Glove certification within six (6) months of hire.
