Senior Cloud Solution Architect
to join our Federal organization. Microsoft Federal addresses the unique mission, legal/regulatory requirements, and procurement rules of the United States Government (USG). Microsoft Federal emphasizes flexibility in recruiting, hiring, and workforce assignment to meet evolving USG needs across Civilian, Defense, or intelligence community sectors. Responsibilities
Operate according to required operational excellence and proven practice standards throughout all sales stages and activities, including pipeline updates and time tracking. Collaborate across Microsoft and customer/partner teams through on-strategy delivery to achieve objectives and increase satisfaction. Proactively manage business and technical risks, adapt methodology, and apply governance principles to identify, communicate, and minimize risks. Deliver solutions in line with company methodologies and ensure best practices are followed to prepare customers for operational readiness and achievement of business goals. Leverage change management practices to help customers adopt for long-term organizational adoption, increasing satisfaction and driving consumption/usage. Guide customers/partners toward well-architected, secure, resilient, AI-enabled, cost- and performance-optimized solutions to increase retention and expansion opportunities. Provide feedback to Unified Delivery Team on VBDs to refine content. Identify new opportunities for Consumption, Usage & Unified expansion (especially Enhanced Solutions) at scale based on business value and Microsofts value proposition. Engage with customers/partners to challenge architectures/approaches when needed and map current solutions to desired business outcomes. Capture opportunities in appropriate systems and collaborate across the organization to execute opportunities aligned with Microsofts Customer Engagement Model. Identify, escalate, and mitigate blockers to accelerate deployment, value realization, and usage/consumption; apply knowledge to meet business/IT requirements and resolve constraints. Act as the voice of the customer/partner, sharing insights with Engineering, Product Offerings, and internal communities to influence roadmaps and prioritization. Translate customer problems into industry solutions aligned with Microsoft strategy and articulate ROI benefits. Help customers adopt cross-solution-area Microsoft product/platform strategies and build relationships with technical and business decision makers. Lead or participate in virtual teams, educate colleagues on technical readiness, and contribute to thought leadership and IP creation where applicable. Support partner ecosystems by guiding opportunities, performing pre-sales support, and ensuring repeatable offerings and solutions. Demonstrate industry knowledge and engage with external and internal audiences to elevate Microsofts brand. Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, IT consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, or consulting OR equivalent experience 4+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects, architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of cloud-based applications Security Clearance Requirements
Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance is required or ability to obtain as per Microsoft/customer/government requirements. Clearance verification may be required prior to offer. Microsoft Cloud Background Check required at hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Citizenship verification is required due to citizenship-based restrictions for government-related roles. Education and Certifications
Educational requirements: as above, with 8+ years of related experience for advanced degrees per the education section, or 6+ years with a Masters in related fields, or equivalent experience. Technical Certifications in Cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google) and Professional Cloud Certifications in Cloud, Database, Big Data, BI, Data Science, ML/AI preferred. Experiences
4+ years in a customer-facing role and 4+ years on technical projects. Experience in Consulting/Architecture roles in software engineering or professional services is desired. Knowledge of Azure cloud services and general knowledge of competitive cloud offerings. Understanding of partner ecosystems and leveraging partners to solve customer needs. Technical Specializations (selected)
Data Platform Cloud solutions and data estate workloads, including AI (Azure Cognitive Services), Power Platform, SQL platforms, NoSQL databases, and data governance awareness. Enterprise-scale cloud/hybrid architectures, scalabilty, security, resiliency, database migrations, and cloud management. Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI/LLMs, Azure ML, ML lifecycle, big data platforms (Synapse, Snowflake, Redshift, Spark), and Azure Data Bricks. Familiarity with Azure infrastructure and application development. Education
Bachelors Degree in related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Masters Degree with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent experience. Technical Cloud certifications and professional certifications in relevant technologies are preferred. Additional/Preferred Qualifications
Strong industry knowledge and up-skilling with leadership readiness, and ability to mentor teams. Experience delivering PoCs, MVPs, and rapid prototypes to demonstrate value. Compensation
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There are location-based variations; for San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metro areas, the range is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
