Job description:

The Assistant Dean has primary administrative responsibility for surveillance and oversight of undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Nursing. The Assistant Dean supervises the work of faculty and staff related to all aspects of program development, implementation and evaluation. Recruitment, admissions, orientation, degree certification, and post-Master's certification are additional responsibilities of the position, as is responsibility for enforcement of all University policies and procedures. He/she generates and verifies publications of the undergraduate and graduate programs, generates the schedule of classes, provides academic liaison to providers and other key stakeholders in the community, and provides counseling and advice to both prospective and current graduate and undergraduate students. The Assistant Dean works closely with the Dean of the School of Nursing, faculty and staff on program planning and review, and serves as liaison on University-wide academic committees. The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing.

Job Duties: Develop teaching schedules Respond to all outside agency surveys (Review by Dean prior to submission.) Develop faculty productivity report Conduct faculty evaluations Perform administrative classroom visits Develop Committee assignments for Dean's approval Develop Committee Task and Directives for Dean's approval First line respondent to faculty issues Attend University meetings in the Dean's absence Schedule and Develop student assembly Schedule Grievance hearings in collaboration with Committee Chair Assign faculty mentors Submit grant proposals for funding Responsible to meet requirements of instructional faculty, with reduced load, engage in scholarship and service Conduct initial screenings for faculty positions Coordinate the hiring of adjunct faculty Prepare productivity reports for all departments Review teaching assignments submitted by chairperson Adjudicate academic affairs matters Other duties assigned by the Dean Qualifications:

Earned doctorate Master's in nursing

Requirements:

RN/APRN Licensure in Virginia

Teaching, Research, Grantsmanship and other scholarly activities
