Opened in 1954 and designed by Morris Lapidus, it was the most luxurious hotel on Miami Beach and is considered the most significant building of Lapidus' career. Responsibilities The Convention Operations Manager acts as the liaison for the convention meeting planner immediately after the pre-con meeting has concluded and the Banquet Event Orders have been updated with all revisions from the review with the client. The Convention Operations Manager owns the convention and coordinates the daily operations of the conference for the Catering and Convention Services division, communicating all updated information and logistics to the operating departments throughout the hotel. Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following: Lead and manage the operational management of the conference, ensuring all bookings are delivered to a high standard and meet budget, performance, quality, and guest targets. Support the department's budget, including assisting the Business Development and CS teams in meeting sales and satisfaction goals via surveys. Make day-to-day operational decisions that impact the client/guest experience, demonstrating the ability to deliver co-creation of services within financial guidelines and existing systems. Proactively monitor customer functions, spending about 90% of each day interacting with meeting professionals and attendees to ensure satisfaction. Review all relevant communications, Daily Event Lists, Group Resumes, and Banquet Event Orders. Ensure smooth and seamless operation of all events and meetings by coordinating with supporting departments for efficiency. Meet with Meeting Professionals/Convention and Catering Managers before the first event to verify meeting specifications. Inspect and prepare all meeting rooms/function spaces prior to each event with sufficient time for adjustments. Coordinate with all operating departments to ensure top-quality service. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Well-organized with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to develop professional relationships with vendors, guests, and employees. Effective communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships. Ability to multi-task, work independently, and maintain a positive attitude in a busy environment. Minimum of two (2) years of Convention Services/Catering and hotel operations experience, preferably in a large convention hotel. Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management/Administration or related discipline preferred.
