Department: NIAR MRO Campus Location: Wichita, KS-WSU McConnell Hire Type: Full Time Pay: Commensurate with experience Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 6:30 am - 3:00 pm Export Compliance Requirement: This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a "U.S. Citizen". Job Summary Performs functional testing, troubleshooting, and/or repair of aircraft mechanical systems. Prepares aircraft for flight test and airworthiness certification. May include maintenance, sheet metal, and/or avionics work. Essential Functions Adheres to General Work Requirements; Completes required documentation including logs, discrepancies, and/or modification notices carried forward from previous areas of assembly Assists in performing maintenance of the aircraft to prepare it for successful mechanical functional tests, engineering specifications, inspections, or flight testing. Assists with performing preliminary inspection of aircraft prior to test flight in accordance with preflight checklists to ensure airworthiness; assists with complying with specific pilot requirements in preparation for aircraft flights Assists with launching aircraft for flight, including transport of the aircraft safely to designated locations, recovering aircraft from flight and troubleshooting and repairing post-flight discrepancies. This may include aircraft noise complaints, fuel distribution system, pressurization system, bleed air and anti-ice systems, abnormal flight control characteristics, engine, and pneudraulic powered systems using aircraft log books Assists in preparing aircraft for airworthiness post-flight inspection; troubleshooting and repairing discrepancies identified from airworthiness inspection; jacking and moving aircraft and/or equipment to next station; performing troubleshooting and repairing aircraft discrepancies prior to and after functional tests have been conducted Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of related experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings.Good Interpersonal skills.Basic knowledge of safety and operating procedures for power-on aircraftAbility to use and interpret a variety of precision measurement instrumentsAbility obtain tug operator's licenseAbility to perform basic troubleshooting and repair of aircraft systemsAbility to recognize potential electrical hazards in order to prevent injury to self or othersAbility to achieve sufficient technical qualifications to acquire product verification certification Preferred Qualifications Engine run certification on all current production models Five (5) years structural assembly/disassembly of aircraft Physical Requirements Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs. Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces. Ability to position self to clean designated areas, equipment and items. This includes but is not limited to the ability to clean in confined, elevated, and loud noise spaces. Ability to interpret effectively, accurately and impartially, both receptively and expressively. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
