Medical Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our urology office located in Millburn. This role involves performing phlebotomy and blood draws, processing specimens for laboratory analysis, and using a centrifuge to spin blood samples. The Medical Assistant will provide compassionate care to patients, update patient information including family histories, and manage previous visit notes. The successful candidate will support back-office functions such as patient intakes, vital checks, medication reconciliation, and chart preparation prior to patient visits. Additional duties include room preparation, completing prior authorizations, restocking supplies, maintaining inventory, triaging phone calls, and updating the electronic medical record system, EPIC. Responsibilities: Perform phlebotomy and blood draws. Process specimens and prepare them for laboratory processing. Use centrifuge to spin blood samples. Provide compassionate care to patients. Update patient information, including family histories and previous visit notes. Support back-office functions in a urology office. Conduct patient intakes and room loading. Perform vital checks and medication reconciliation. Prepare charts prior to patient visits. Prepare patient rooms and complete prior authorizations. Restock rooms and supply closets, complete inventory. Triage phones for physician or patient inquiries. Update electronic medical record using EPIC. Essential Skills: Minimum of 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with an accredited diploma from a medical assistant school. Experience with blood draws. Comfortable working in a urology practice. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience in patient care and pediatric settings. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, particularly EPIC and Athena. Work Environment: Join a dynamic and high-volume urology practice, handling 80-100 patients per day, with each physician managing 20-50 daily. Work alongside 5 senior professionals and 4 other medical assistants in a collaborative environment. Adaptability to varying personalities is crucial, as some physicians may work at different paces. The busy environment requires teamwork to ensure efficient patient care. The position requires flexibility with shifts, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from as early as 7 AM to as late as 6 PM, depending on doctors' schedules. Longer days may be required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with shifts potentially starting at 7 AM or varying throughout the day based on patient appointments. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millburn, New Jersey. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
