The Manufacturing Engineer supports and improves production processes by applying engineering principles to design, implement, and refine manufacturing systems in an industrial environment. Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities: Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning. Prepare product or system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design-related tasks. Direct and coordinate the manufacture of new products, components, processes, and prototype designs. Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product. Analyze test data to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications. Perform additional tasks as needed to support continuous improvement initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and plant-wide efficiency goals. Qualifications

Education and/or experience: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required. Familiarity with PLC programming, data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab or Excel PivotTables), and ERP systems preferred. Electrical curriculum with design experience in the power industry is preferred. 25 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing is highly preferred. Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. Mathematical skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other skills and competencies: Strong problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement focus (Lean/Six Sigma exposure a plus). Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams. Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical audiences. Must be able to work harmoniously with other employees within the department and across the organization. Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety: This individual is required to follow all plant safety rules and any special department safety rules. This includes the safe operation of all equipment the employee is required and authorized to operate. Personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses or hearing protection, may be required depending on the specific operation being performed.
