If this resonates with you, join our exceptional team in our pursuit of excellence.Position Summary:The purpose of the Pathologists' Assistant (PA) is to aid pathologists with the diagnosis of each case on the specimen level. Under the supervision of the Grossing Supervisor and general technical direction of pathologists, the PA Trainer is responsible for training new and current PA's and Grossing Technicians in the accurate description and dissection of all specimens, in a fast paced, high-volume environment. The PA Trainer is also responsible for assisting in the training of any students in the University of Washington PA training program who may rotate through the CellNetix Grossing department. The PA Trainer is also expected to maintain ASCP certification. The PA Trainer must adhere to HIPAA standards. Due to various environmental hazards presented in the workplace such as formalin, communicable disease, fresh human tissue, etc., employees must also adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.Position Schedule: M-F, 10am - 6:30pm with flexibility to shift up to 1-2 hours earlier or later depending on the trainee's permanent schedule.Essential Duties:Train new Pathologists' Assistants and Grossing Technicians in the current Grossing protocols, including dissection, triage, and gross descriptionsTrack and maintain the trainee's training checklist, and sign off on specimen's when deemed competentReview trainee dictations to ensure they align with the current Grossing protocolsComplete spot checks on trainee's empty containers to ensure that biopsy specimens are entirely submittedAttend monthly training meetings to update Grossing leadership on trainees' developmentGross all types of surgical specimens, simple to complexTriage specimens for gross dissectionGross PhotographyHandling of certain tissue types for special studiesTroubleshoot including reaccessioning cases, auditing specimen codes, field questions from various laboratory departmentsAssist with research as neededAssist in competency assessments as neededOther duties as assignedKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledgeable of current Grossing protocolsAbility to interact and adapt to different training methodsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detailBasic PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn new softwareDemonstrate ability to perform effectively under pressureHighly adaptableAbility to prioritizeAbility to focusMust be able to work independentlyStrong personal skillsQualificationsQualifications/Experience:Graduate of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program.At least 2 years of experience as an ASCP-certified Pathologists' Assistant is requiredPhysical Requirements:Standing for long time periodsBendingWalkingSafely lifting up to 50 lbs.Computer useManual dexterityBenefits:CellNetix offers a comprehensive benefits plan.
