The Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a compassionate Food Service Specialist 1 to aid dietary staff in providing high-quality care to our honored veterans. This WAE government position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day. Serve those who served. Minimum Qualifications: No experience or training is required. Job Duties: Helps with the preparation of food. Performs heavy manual, extensive cleaning activities. Set up steam lines, food carts, and special diet trays. Operates dishwasher and stores clean dishes. Practice good personal and food sanitation regulations and report unsafe conditions. Collect and dispose of garbage. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Classified WAE (not to exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period). Compensation: This position is eligible for retention pay (per hour worked).
