Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client's team as Patient Access Coordinator - Radiation Oncology. You will facilitate the authorization process by obtaining timely insurance authorizations; send Admit Forms to the Admitting Department to confirm insurance; schedule patients for imaging procedures including submitting referral information; prepare documents for Multidisciplinary Clinic (MDC) and enter them in the EMR.
Job Description
Send Admit Forms to the Admitting Department for patient registration within client; review authorization requirements and coordinate any required letters of non-coverage. Send Healthcare Form (if appropriate) to the ordering Radiation Oncologist or designee on the day of CT; use information from the form to request authorization. Collaborate with Billing Representatives to ensure correct CPT codes for all insurances. Respond to Quality Check Lists (QCL) promptly to avoid delays in patient treatments. Obtain authorization from insurance companies prior to or at the time of CT; once approved, enter authorization details in the patient's EMR under the Insurance tab and in Soarian. Communicate via email with Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetry regarding denied coverage; schedule Peer-to-Peer reviews as needed. Collaborate with Finance on appeals indicated. Schedule patients for imaging services, documenting dates in the EMR, and inform patients of exam date, time, and location. Respond promptly to Hospital Billing Representatives regarding claim denials and payment status. Notify Oncology Social Work for self-pay/no-insurance patients to provide cost estimates for radiation oncology technical services. Notify Radiation Oncologists of self-pay patients so professional charges can be estimated. Participate on Monday-Friday Dosimetry huddles on a rotating basis; share information with other Access Coordinators and adjust workflow to accommodate patient volume surges. Maintain a solid working knowledge of insurance requirements specific to radiation oncology; develop collaborative relationships with insurance representatives. Perform work safely, adhering to departmental safety rules and reporting unsafe activities or hazards promptly. Perform other related duties as required. Skills Required
Knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. Ability to operate office equipment safely. Strong communication skills for all levels of customers. Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to learn and understand basic medical terminology Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to multi-task. Proficiency in navigating EMR systems, including Mosaiq and ARIA. Daily contact with patients, families, vendors, and other medical/professional staff. Intermittent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting. Able to work under stressful, time-constraints Education/Training/Certifications
Associate degree in Business/Medical-related field preferred. 2 years of experience in a medical or financial institution preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Additional Requirements
