Position Summary Provides security services to ensure order and safety of patients, visitors and hospital personnel. Essential Functions Escorts for visitors, employees, and students upon request. Patrols all areas of the hospital internally and externally on foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle 24 hours a day in all weather conditions. Eligible officers must meet drivers license standards to operate an Orlando Health owned vehicle for motor vehicle patrols. Provides key assists to all areas of the hospital, including sensitive areas to authorized personnel. Detects suspicious activities within the campus and handles situations appropriately. Reports criminal activity to supervisor and law enforcement, as appropriate. Investigates accident scenes, preserves evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepares oral and written reports; responds calmly to varying situations and recommends legal action if needed. Assists medical staff with enforcement of Baker Act (F.S. 394.463) and Marchman Act (F.S. 397.675-397.6775) with approved medical restraints as requested by physicians under Florida Statutes. Collaborates with law enforcement officers regarding patient/prisoner intake and status; assists Patient Care Coordinator with securing status of non-publicity/high-risk patients. Reports safety and security violations throughout the campus. Responds to inbound/outbound helicopter flights, ensuring helipad safety and assisting flight crew in handling and transporting patients as needed. Operates walk-through and hand-held metal detectors. Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training:
High school graduate or equivalent. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing. Licensure/Certification:
Must have a valid Florida drivers license and be insurable under Orlando Health requirements. If unable to drive after 90 days, may sign a No Driving Document. Must obtain a State of Florida Class D Security Officer License within 120 days of hire (renewed biannually); CPI Certification within 120 days of hire (renewed annually); and Basic Security Officer Certification or higher via the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety within 120 days of hire and maintained during employment.
