Commerce City is seeking a strategic and inspiring visionary to guide our communitys growth and wellbeing. The Director of Community Development oversees planning, permitting, housing programs, community wellbeing initiatives, and code enforcement, ensuring each area aligns with the Citys vision and long-term goals. This role works closely with City leadership, community partners, and residents to create a city that is vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable. Responsibilities Drive a skilled team, fostering collaboration and innovation while navigating complex development projects and sensitive community issues. From shaping land-use policies to championing neighborhood revitalization, this role plays a key part in creating opportunities that enhance quality of life for all. Success in this position comes from balancing strategic vision with practical solutions, building trust across diverse groups, and ensuring that growth reflects the needs and values of the entire community.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in urban planning, public administration, community development or related field with ten years of experience in municipal city planning, community development, building permitting and inspection, housing programs, and code enforcement. Seven years in management capacity overseeing the areas noted above. Must possess a valid drivers license. AICP certification is highly valued and reflects the expertise, ethical standards, and strategic insight needed to navigate complex planning and development challenges.
Base pay range
$170,000.00/yr - $189,000.00/yr Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. We care about our employees and offer a generous benefits package:
