Yard Assistant
Position Summary:
The Roofing Yard Assistant supports the daily operations of the roofing yard by organizing materials, loading/unloading trucks, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. This role is critical in keeping roofing crews supplied and ready for field operations. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in receiving, organizing, and stocking roofing materials such as metal, shingles, foam, single-ply, BUR, and other inventory.
Prepare and load roofing materials and equipment for crews based on job orders and daily schedules.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, storage areas, and equipment.
Assist with unloading deliveries and verifying material quantities.
Perform regular inventory checks and notify supervisor of low-stock or missing items.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other yard equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain proper safety practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Help with minor equipment maintenance, repairs, or cleaning as needed.
Communicate with the operations and field teams to fulfill daily jobsite needs.
Follow all company policies and procedures, including OSHA safety regulations.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in a roofing or construction yard environment is a plus.
Ability to lift 50100 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
Forklift certification is a plus (or willing to obtain).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
Valid drivers license preferred.
Work Environment:
Outdoors in varying weather conditions.
May require early morning or late afternoon hours based on roofing crew schedules.
Exposure to roofing materials, dust, debris, and noise.
