Senior Snowflake Database Administrator
This role will require someone to work on site in Cincinnati, Ohio on a full-time basis. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Snowflake Database Administrator to lead the administration, optimization, and governance of our Snowflake data platform. This role is critical to ensuring the performance, security, and integrity of our data infrastructure, supporting enterprise-wide analytics and data-driven decision-making. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis. For our W2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance. Rate: $68-70/hr. W2. Key Responsibilities
Performance & Optimization Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries and workloads to ensure efficient resource utilization and cost management. Monitor and tune Snowflake compute resources (warehouses) for optimal performance. Implement best practices for data modeling, partitioning, clustering, and indexing. Security & Governance Manage user roles, access controls, and data masking policies to ensure compliance with internal and external security standards. Collaborate with InfoSec and compliance teams to enforce data governance policies. Audit and monitor data access and usage patterns to detect anomalies and ensure data protection. Database Hygiene & Maintenance Maintain clean and organized schemas, tables, and views across environments. Implement automated routines for purging obsolete data, archiving, and metadata management. Ensure consistency and reliability of data pipelines and integrations with Snowflake. Collaboration & Leadership Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support data initiatives. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and data team members. Stay current with Snowflake features, updates, and industry trends to continuously improve platform capabilities. Qualifications
Proven experience as a Snowflake DBA or in a similar role managing cloud-based data platforms. Strong proficiency in SQL and performance tuning techniques. Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, including virtual warehouses, storage layers, and caching mechanisms. Experience with data security frameworks and compliance standards. Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Preferred Skills
SnowPro Certification (Core or Advanced). Experience with automation tools (e.g., dbt, Terraform). Knowledge of other cloud platforms (AWS) and their integration with Snowflake. Scripting experience in Python or Shell for administrative tasks.
