Reading Instructional Coordiantor Primary Purpose: Provide curriculum leadership and support classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program. Facilitate collaborative planning and student performance analysis. Assist teachers in developing timely, targeted interventions for students with academic needs. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's Degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate Principal certification recommended
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience: 5 years of classroom teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Strategies Serve as the lead learner through modeling and facilitating learning opportunities for campus instructional staff. Demonstrate knowledge of researched-based instructional strategies that engage all learners. Work cooperatively with administrators in developing and supervising the instructional programs at assigned grade levels. Coordinate the review, development and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including Pacing Calendars, Course Outlines, and teaching plans. Provide leadership and assistance in identifying instructional/curriculum issues and developing plans for addressing those issues. Support teachers to deepen their content knowledge while aligning the written, taught and tested curriculum based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Implement the district coaching cycle through collaboration with campus administrators and teachers to: Model effective instruction, Observe teachers, and Provide timely feedback to teachers and administrators 8. Evaluate the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
Assist with the development and/or selection of district curriculum resources, instructional materials and assessments. Provide support in using data from multiple measures to impact instructional decisions at the campus, grade level, department and/or classroom level. Provide training to instructional staff that support effective Tier 1 and Tier 2 classroom interventions. Coordinate with grade level teams/departments to develop high-level assessments and disaggregate assessment data to formulate plans for improvement. Staff Development
Build staff capacity by providing support, training, coaching and mentoring with the expectation of improved instruction and increased learning Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national level. Observe classroom instruction, provide feedback, and assist to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom. Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership responsibilities. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers and instructional staff. Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers. Collaborate with campus administrators and other school leaders to develop academic intervention plans/schedules that maximize teaching and learning opportunities. Professional Growth and Development Seek out and attend appropriate professional development activities to improve job-related skills. Serve on campus and district committees for continuous improvement efforts. Develop and actively pursue long-range professional growth and self-improvement plan. Other Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. Work with the Assistant Superintendent and campus administrators to improve performance of students in special populations (504, GT, ELs, SpEd, RtI, CTE, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administrator, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. Alternative methods of performing duties.
