Senior Design Project Manager

Industrial Design LLC is a growing, full-service A&E firm located in Chandler, Arizona. Our core work revolves around design and engineering of Basebuild, Progressive Build and Site Infrastructure projects for industrial manufacturing companies. Our largest client is a well-known Semiconductor manufacturer with multiple sites in the City of Chandler. We also offer in-house services for Tool Installation design, 3D laser scanning, Concrete GPR, Trimble Point/Datums, 3D/BIM modeling, Vinyl System Labeling and Industrial Layout.
About the Role
Industrial Design is looking to add an additional Project Manager to the team. The PM will manage projects in which groups of engineers and designers create construction documents (blueprints) for Owner use in bid costing, permitting and construction. Some projects are 2D and created in AutoCAD; others are BIM projects created in Revit. Responsibilities Conduct bid walks in the field with customers, trade partners and design partners; including walks inside buildings with active cleanroom protocols. Communicate project scopes, timelines, expectations and deliverables for each project to the design team. Drive the project design phase from initial funding through Issue for Construction. Drive the Project SDC/CA phase from construction kickoff through final redline incorporation. Lead field walks with staff and customers for issue resolution, including walks inside buildings with active cleanroom protocols. Coordinate design team alignment internally with IDs engineers and designers and with external design/engineering partner companies. Coordinate with BIM modelers and field technicians when required on projects. Protect IDs interests with At Risk Notices and Design Change Orders. Prepare and submit pay applications and/or coordinate invoices to customers. Negotiate and issue sub-contract and vendor contracts and purchase orders. Create design project micro schedules. QA/QC of all design documents prior to release at each design milestone. Establish tracking logs for project deliverables, ARNs, Info Need logs, Checklists, meeting minutes, field data requests, RFIs, submittals, etc. Track high-level finances and report progress and health (financial and team motivation) in management/financial meetings. Coordinate with internal Safety and Customer EHS reps to ensure designs are compliant and the team operates in a safe environment. Participate in creation of process documentation. Participate in interview processes for potential design team candidates and in reviews for current design team members.
Qualifications
On-site presence. This is an in-person, hands-on role with no remote work. Accountability willingness to own projects and their performance. A working understanding of the Design and Engineering role the A/E plays in the design/construction cycle. 3+ years of project management experience on design projects required; BIM project management preferred. Excellent time management, strong work ethic and ability to stay organized throughout the project lifecycle. Highly organized and detail-oriented with ability to maintain information confidentiality (IP Protocols). Strong written and verbal communication skills; leading in-person meetings with large audiences. Experience with design and construction specifications. Ability to work with a diverse workforce and a global customer base; comfortable across cultural boundaries. Willingness to mentor and train junior staff.
Required Skills
Advanced technology experience (semiconductor/pharmaceutical/precision manufacturing or R&D). Experience with Revit/Navisworks/AutoCAD; experience with VDC projects; ability to navigate Navis models with clients and partners. Understanding of Level of Detail (LOD) for modeling scopes. Experience with Intel Corporation and ILCC contract language. Experience with high-value, complex projects involving laser scan/point cloud data, field technicians, modelers, integrators and multi-company teams, external safety compliance stakeholders, and IP management. PMP certification; PEP creation/modification. Experience with BIM 360/Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro and Bluebeam Studio. B.S. in Engineering, Architecture or Project Management (experience considered in lieu of education for right candidate). Understanding of Civil NEE coordinate systems.
