Asbestos Litigation Attorney

Manage the company's high-volume asbestos litigation docket from initial intake through resolution, including case investigation, discovery, defense strategy, litigation, and insurance reporting and recovery. Oversee and collaborate with a network of national and local counsel who represent AECOM in asbestos litigation matters throughout the United States to develop case strategies and manage litigation. Assist in the preparation of and ensure accuracy of responsive discovery by researching AECOM's historical project records. Proactively manage claims to resolution, including advancing case analysis and strategy, setting appropriate settlement authority, and participating in the settlement process, mediation, or trial. Communicate effectively with multiple insurers and coverage counsel, including issuing notices, responding to coverage correspondence, and advancing disputes towards resolution. Review and revise key litigation motions (Motions to Dismiss, Motions for Summary Judgment, Administrative Motions, etc.) prior to filing. Retain and collaborate with medical experts and industrial hygienists and collaborate with fact witnesses to develop company's defense. Review settlement agreements prior to execution. Stay informed on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends related to asbestos litigation. Ensure the timely processing of invoices from national and local counsel, experts, and other vendors, as well as the processing of settlement checks. Work collaboratively with and supervise legal assistant, asbestos. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements J.D. degree from accredited law school plus at least 1 year of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Demonstrated interest in complex litigation and torts. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and competing demands, and achieve goals independently and in teams. Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities. Ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues and analysis to management and commercial and finance colleagues. Self-driven, resourceful, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working with large dockets, tort attorneys and insurance claims professionals is preferred. Experience in asbestos and toxic tort law.
