Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D. degree. Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in litigation, state taxation or administrative law. Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a license to practice law in Texas and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
In this role you will
Receives and processes legal documents, which may include ensuring that the cases are properly logged for tracking purposes, have a file established, and are referred to the relevant division of the OAG. Assists the OAG staff in obtaining evidence, witnesses, copies of relevant documents, etc., from agency personnel and files. Receives and evaluates correspondence from the OAG on trial tactics, settlement offers, and related case management issues, and routes communications to the appropriate agency personnel. Works with affected CPA tax administration divisions (including Audit, Tax Policy, Revenue Accounting, Account Maintenance, and Enforcement) to ensure that OAG pleadings are consistent with agency policy and practice. Monitors and reports progress of pending cases to the General Counsel of the division and senior agency management. Researches and drafts legal memoranda, rules, letters, manuals, and other documents on issues described above and assigned. Communicates with other agency divisions to address and resolve issues that may be raised in litigation. Coordinates with other agency divisions regarding tax administration and litigation issues that involve the agency and other areas as assigned. Assists agency staff in analyzing or drafting bills and amendments for legislative consideration. Conducts presentations to agency staff and various groups interested in taxation (i.e., State Bar, CPAs). Assists the General Counsel of the division in litigation management and in directing the work of support staff. Responds to inquiries from the public. Assists in identifying expert witnesses and developing contract specifications and, upon execution of the contract, serves as the section contract manager. Performs other duties as assigned.

Visual and auditory requirements are needed for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers. The individual must be able to lift, pull, physically handle, and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information, weighing up to 30 pounds when required.
