If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our Air Vehicle Design and Technologies (AVDT) Program leadership team in the Precision Strike Mission Area (PSMA) in the Force Projection Sector at APL! We are seeking an Assistant Program Manager (APM) to help lead the AVDT program portfolio, which spans fundamental research, rapid prototyping, and full-scale flight demonstrations. In this role, you'll shape the future of precision-strike weapons, helping to steer a multi-disciplinary team working in a high-trust, fast-paced environment. As an APM on the AVDT leadership team, you will oversee and coordinate multiple concurrent projects of technical and strategic significance; translate sponsor intent into actionable roadmaps; collaborate with senior managers, technical Chiefs, and external partners to drive innovation and execution; and ensure portfolio activities align with APL's strategic priorities and mission. Core competencies include: Multiple-Project Prioritization High Initiative Growth Mindset Strategic Thinking Sound Judgment As the AVDT Assistant Program Manager, you will: Partner with the AVDT Program Manager to oversee and coordinate multiple concurrent projects across several sponsors, ensuring each aligns with APL's strategic objectives. Help define and champion a forward-looking AVDT vision; synchronize project road-maps so they reinforce one another and the APL strategy. Provide technical direction, set priorities, and enforce cost-schedule discipline for each project. Recognize and address critical risks, issues, challenges, and opportunities faced by the AVDT portfolio. Cultivate trusted relationships with government sponsors, industry partners, academia, and internal APL stakeholders to identify needs early, secure resources, and foster cross-functional team cohesion. Offer thought leadership that translates risks, needs, and challenges into impactful, APL-wide solutions. Mentor project teams to foster both individual member career growth and overall team capability expertise and growth. Assist the AVDT PM in developing and executing program plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful development of AVDT systems and technologies. Perform duties in a manner consistent with FPS leadership principles. Qualifications: Have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or another technical field. Have at least five years of relevant experience, and prior experience leading complex multi-disciplinary technical tasks. Have demonstrated the ability to build and lead multi-organizational and cross-functional teams even in technical areas outside of your expertise and without direct authority. Have strong analytical/problem-solving skills and are comfortable turning ambiguous requirements into concrete plans. Have excellent written and oral communication as well as experience presenting to senior leadership and external sponsors. Are responsive, organized, thorough, and good at juggling competing priorities. Have demonstrated high initiative, independent work style, and a growth mindset. Have demonstrated a willingness to take strategic risks and the ability to be both flexible and resilient. Have proven coaching, staff development, leadership development, and mentoring skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, set a vision and strategy, and to execute a strategy. Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain TS/SCI level clearance, as well as Special Access Programs. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you: Have a Master's or PhD degree in an engineering or technical discipline. Have demonstrated effective line management experience. Are a recognized expert across multiple domains including the analysis, design, and testing of high-speed strike weapons. Have knowledge and experience with Planning, Programming and Budgeting, Acquisition Process/Lifecycle, Research and Development, Test and Evaluation systems of DoD Systems. Have experience navigating APL's programmatic, fiscal, and technical environment. Possess strong command of quality assurance practices. Minimum Rate: $102,500 Annually Maximum Rate: $290,000 Annually
