Project Engineer I Or Project Engineer II
The City of Caldwell is looking for a Project Engineer I or Project Engineer II to join our team. Individual serves the city as a professional engineer and manages all design, development, and construction aspects of public works projects as assigned; performs related work as required. The principal function of an employee in this class is to manage the development and construction of public works projects for the city. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the city engineer and in a general office environment with work responsibilities in both indoor and outdoor environments. Responsibilities
The responsibilities include: Working with the city engineer in the development of designs, plans, specifications, and other working papers relating to proposed engineering, construction, maintenance, and improvement projects. Directing the design, cost estimating, bidding, and construction document preparation, and managing the construction of various public works projects of the city as assigned by the city engineer. Coordinating resolution of problems with company engineers and representatives. Coordinating accounting and financial requirements and obligations with contractors to finalize projects. Developing, managing, and coordinating material testing services by staff and outside testing laboratories. Responding to questions, concerns, and complaints from internal and external customers regarding bid processes, program processes, and departmental policies and procedures. Keeping immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems. Attending approved meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviewing publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas. Responding to citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner. Training, assigning, prioritizing, supervising, motivating, and evaluating the work of assigned employees. Communicating and coordinating with others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities to help keep a positive work environment as well as works as a team member. Respecting the opinions of others and maintaining a positive and professional working relationship with employees, supervisors, and others. Organizing and coordinating with local and state entities on federally funded city projects. Performing other duties as assigned.
