Job Description: Overview:The Associate Vice President - Hydrology & Hydraulics is responsible for managing all phases of project delivery-from research and planning to conceptual and final design, through construction. This leadership role also provides mentoring and on-the-job training to support the continued technical and professional development of the team. The position requires managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.Serving as a key liaison between technical teams and administrative/financial functions, the Associate Vice President must effectively assess and communicate local market dynamics, staffing needs, and evolving industry trends. In addition to managing a team of engineers and technical professionals, this role is expected to actively engage in professional and community organizations to foster strategic relationships and increase visibility in key markets.Responsibilities:Review proposals, budgets, and client agreements to ensure alignment with project goals and company standardsLead, mentor, and oversee the technical work of team members on complex modeling, engineering design and calculations, technical reports, regulatory permitting (local and state), and public/client presentationsPrepare responses to client RFQs and solicitationsDevelop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, public agency representatives, and community leadersOversee project managers to ensure effective coordination of project tasks, budgets, and schedulesParticipate in the development and refinement of design and production standards.Provide leadership and actively participate in relevant professional and civic organizationsGuide and support the technical and career growth of project team membersConduct or supervise technical investigations, including post-flood forensic analysis, FEMA permitting, and regulatory compliance issuesQualifications:Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringLicensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of employmentMinimum of 15 years of progressive experience in stormwater modeling and/or design, including at least 10 years in managing H&H professionalsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated success in building and maintaining professional relationships with clients, public officials, and community leadersProven ability to lead and mentor engineers and technical staffActive involvement in professional associations and civic organizations, preferably in a leadership capacityP.E. license in Texas held for over 10 yearsCertified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation preferredEEO Statement: All qualified applicants for Pape-Dawson Engineers will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
