$100,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from TekPro TekPro is partnered with a leading electrical contractor in Chicagoland in their search for a senior BIM/CAD Designer! This is a direct-hire opening with a premier company. You will have the opportunity to work on huge commercial projects for hospitals, higher education institutions, data centers, and more. Overview: Key Responsibilities Electrical System Design Develop electrical system layouts, including rooms and homerun schedules. Interpret and incorporate single-line and riser diagrams. Design major conduit runs and raceways for both power and low-voltage systems. Create custom families and project content for modeling use. Produce and prepare shop drawings for prefabrication and field installation. Maintain and update project drawings in response to addenda, bulletins, and changes. Generate detailed drafting views and drawings for documentation. Manage record drawings for closeout and archival. Modeling and Coordination Manage project templates, standard blocks, details, and plotting configurations. Perform routine model maintenance and administration. Model electrical systems in AutoCAD or Revit based on project specifications. Update models to reflect coordination changes and as-built conditions. Collaborate with field teams and other trades to support the BIM coordination process. Attend and contribute to coordination meetings; track and document changes and action items. Maintain open communication with team members outside of scheduled meetings. Software & Technical Support Build strong working relationships with BIM/VDC software vendors. Develop user guides and training materials for BIM software used across field and office teams. Deliver training sessions on VDC tools to improve team proficiency. Qualifications Associates degree in Electrical Design, Engineering, or a related field. 35+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction. 35 years of experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit for electrical system design. Strong ability to independently design electrical room layouts and interpret system schematics and project schedules. Solid understanding of construction practices, including the ability to interpret manufacturer drawings and equipment cut sheets. Seniority level
